This game was played to a crowd of 43,792 at Yankee Stadium in Bronx, NY.
Braves Acuna Hits HR In 11th For Win Over Yankees!
The match up between first place Atlanta Braves and New York Yankees turned out to be an incredible ballgame on Monday Night at the Bronx.
What started out to be a pitching match up between Anibal Sanchez and Jonathan Loaisiga ended up being a battle of the bullpens.
In this game you had outstanding pitching and offense from the young talent of the Braves and Yankees.
This game was so much fun to watch it started to remind me of watching the Braves back in the 90’s! You would be glued to the tv and be anticipating every play.
Seeing Braves top prospect Ronald Acuna Jr., being able to come through in the clutch reminded me of a young kid by the name of Andruw Jones back in 1996.
Will this just be the beginning of the match-ups that these two teams will have in the postseason? Only time will tell but this game sure did get the ball and anticipation rolling.

First Inning:
As I stated earlier this game featured Anibal Sanchez pitching for the Braves and Jonathan Loaisiga for the Yankees.
The Braves went quietly in the top of the first.
With one out in the bottom of the first Yankees power hitting right fielder Aaron Judge comes to the plate. On a 86 mph cutter from Sanchez, Judge hits his 23rd homerun over the right field wall. The Yankees take a 1-0 lead going to the top of the second.
Third Inning:
In the top of the third inning, Johan Camargo comes to bat for the Braves. With the count 0-2, Camargo hits a 83 mph slider from Loaisiga over the right field wall for his 8th homerun for the year. The game is now tied a 1-1!
Gleyber Torres doubles to center field to start off the bottom of the third. With one out Sanchez throws a a wild pitch to allow Torres to advance to third base. With Didi Gregorius batting Sanchez issues another wild pitch which allows Torres to come in to score to give the Yankees the lead at 2-1!
Fourth Inning:
With one out in the top of the fourth inning, Nick Markakis doubles to right field. Then the next batter Kurt Suzuki doubles also to left field to score Markakis. The game is now tied 2-2! Then Ronald Acuna Jr. follow with a double to left field to score Suzuki. Going to the bottom of the fourth inning the Braves now lead 3-2!
Fifth Inning:
With one out in the bottom of the fifth inning, Torres singles to left field but when Acuna Jr. misplays the ball Torres advances to second base. Then Brett Gardner and Aaron Judge walk. With bases loaded Gregorius hits a sacrifice fly to center field to score Torres to tie the score at 3-3!

Seventh Inning:
In the bottom of the seventh inning Braves pitcher Sam Freeman replaces Anibal Sanchez. Freeman walks the first to batters Torres and Gardner. With one out Freeman gets out of trouble when Gregorius hits into a double play to end the inning. The score is still tied 3-3!
Eighth Inning:
Dan Winkler replaces Sam Freeman in the bottom of the eighth inning. With a runner on second base with two outs Winkler strikes out pinch hitter Neil Walker. The score is still tied 3-3!
Tenth Inning:
In the bottom of the tenth inning Braves pitcher Jesse Biddle gets into some trouble. Gregorius leads of the inning with a single to left field. Then Aaron hits a ground-rule double to right field. Runners are now on second and third. Then Biddle intentionally walks Miguel Andujar to load the bases. Biddle does an outstanding job of pitching by striking out the next to batters to end the inning. The score is still tied 3-3!
Eleventh Inning:
With one out in the top of the eleventh inning and Danny Santana pinch-running for Suzuki Ronald Acuna Jr. comes to the plate. With the count 1-2 Acuna Jr. hits a 85 mph knuckle curve just over the right field wall just out of the reach of Aaron Judge for a 2-run homerun. This was Acuna Jr’s 7th homerun for the season. The Braves now lead 5-3 going to the bottom of the eleventh inning.
A.J. Minter replaces Braves pitcher Jesse Biddle in the bottom of the eleventh inning. With two outs and a runner on second base, Minter strikes out Gregorius to end the game. Braves beat the Yankees in eleven inning by score of 5-3!
